The Read Center conducts research through two branches. The Global Supply Chain Laboratory (GSCL) is utilized to educate our students, create cutting-edge solutions for wholesale and industrial distribution channels. The Talent Incubator Program is an industry-sponsored research program that hires top industrial distribution students to work part-time on company research projects.
The Read Center’s Global Supply Chain Laboratory (GSCL) is the nation’s premier distribution focused research lab. GSCL provides state-of-the-art distribution and supply-chain research solutions to the relevant industries.
The Global Supply Chain Lab is led by Dr. Barry Lawrence and several full-time research associates, who have many years of experience with applied research and education for industry professionals, as well as partnering with the distribution industry to help companies solve difficult problems. These partnerships have resulted in millions of dollars of cost savings, inventory reductions and margin improvements.
The knowledge generated by these industry-funded projects is further used by industrial distribution faculty as case studies in their classes.
The lab’s primary function is to conduct research into common distribution problems and to create industry consortia and projects to solve these problems and to present the solutions to the industry at large. These research endeavors have resulted in millions of dollars of cost savings, inventory reductions and margin improvements.
