
Associate Professor
Dr. Bimal Nepal is an Associate Professor in the Industrial Distribution Program at Texas A&M University. Prior to joining academia, he spent over eight years in industry working in various areas including manufacturing, supply chain management, and new product development. He is a certified Lean Product Process Development Engineer from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Dr. Nepal’s research interests cover a wide range of topics in industrial distribution and manufacturing. Those include: inventory management, lean six-sigma, pricing optimization, supplier management, transportation optimization, production and operations analysis, quality and reliability, and new product development. He has worked on several applied research projects in these areas helping industry improve their bottom lines.
Dr. Nepal has authored over 75 refereed research and educational articles in leading journals and peer reviewed conference proceedings in his areas. His peers have recognized his works both nationally and internationally through various awards and distinctions. Dr. Nepal received Best Presenter Award at the Global Business, Economics and Finance Research Conference in UK in 2011. His article dealing with quality and process capability analysis of an automotive engine manufacturing plant won the Best Paper Award in 2008 for Engineering Management Journal. In 2013, he was presented with Outstanding Alumnus Award by the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at Wayne State University. In addition, Dr. Nepal has received numerous research honors including Herbert H. Richardson Faculty Fellow from TAMU Dwight Look College of Engineering (2012), ETID Departmental Award for Excellence in Research (2010), and IPFW College of Engineering Excellence in Research Award (2008).
